Remembering old times.

John spent his early years living in Albion Rd Islington with his mum Bet, dad Ron and Bets dad ‘Grandad Dickie’ it was a wonderful house especially for us cousins. It had 3 floors lots of stairs to run up and bannisters to slide down ! Many rooms to hide in. Every Saturday night the Titford family would gather at Albion road, Aunts all in the kitchen cooking and the Uncles playing cards in another smoke filled room, meanwhile us kids would run riot through the house. Someone would play the piano which was a Q for Uncle Albert to throw pennies on the floor and us kids would fight over gathering them up, a game that we always loved. Poor Grandad had a hard time with us, we made holes in his cigars, whipped his cushion out from under him as he went to sit down … getting his bottom stuck in the chair, we were always in trouble, john being the eldest took the most slack. Such happy carefree times, then we all grew up, went to school, went to work and our seperate ways. I moved to South Africa only visiting home once a year. When my mother and father passed away i visited less. I sadly lost contact with John and Maureen until during Covid they phoned me out of the blue, I was thrilled to chat to them and promised to visit on my next trip. In September last year I came home for a visit and spent a lovely day with John, Maureen and jo, we had lunch at their favorite pub and had a wonderful catch up. I am so very glad that we spent some time together, seeing their lovely home and simply touching sides again. My thoughts are with you Maureen and Jo at this sad time, may all the wonderful memories you have of John give you some comfort. Rest in Peace cousin xxx Irene
